Syngenta Group, a prominent player in agricultural innovation, has unveiled Cropwise AI at the World AgriTech Innovation Summit held in London. This advanced generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) system aims to enhance the efficiency of agronomic advisors and growers in determining optimal crop management practices.
Cropwise AI harnesses sophisticated machine learning algorithms and data analytics, providing growers with profound insights and improved decision-making capabilities. This system is designed to optimize crop yields, enhance sustainability, and drive profitability. The platform utilizes an extensive repository of Agronomic Models integrated within the Cropwise Insight Engine, which includes over 20 years of weather history, soil conditions, more than 80,000 observations on crop growth stages, and historical yield data from research and on-farm trials.
By combining Syngenta's agronomic expertise with a multi-lingual conversational language model (LLM), Cropwise AI delivers tailored recommendations in accessible natural language. This unique integration of data and models aids farmers in making informed decisions. Using Syngenta’s seed recommendation models, the platform is reported to help growers boost yields by as much as 5 percent.
Feroz Sheikh, Chief Information and Digital Officer at Syngenta Group, commented, "Cropwise AI represents a significant milestone in our digital transformation journey. By combining our deep agronomic knowledge with cutting-edge AI capabilities, we are bringing the power of GenAI to agriculture and empowering growers to make data-driven decisions."
Earlier this year, Syngenta also launched GHX 2.0, which integrates with Cropwise AI to fully utilize farmer data. This updated application enables users to inquire about products and address agronomic challenges, including significant diseases like Tar Spot.
Syngenta is committed to expanding Cropwise AI’s functionalities with innovative features that aim to further transform agricultural practices. Upcoming enhancements include:
Elizabeth Fastiggi, Global Head of Agriculture at AWS, stated, “Cropwise AI is an industry-leading example of how GenAI can address critical agricultural issues. Syngenta has revolutionized decision support, giving farmers easy access to expert advice. We're excited to partner with them to boost yields and optimize productivity across the agri-food system.”
Cropwise AI is currently accessible to select customer groups in the United States and Brazil, with plans for expansion into Europe in the near future.
